HEV: Educational Videos for the Home Educating Family (Review & GIVEAWAY!)

About a month ago I was contacted by John and Claudia Orgill about the launch of their new website, The HEV Project.  The Orgills are a Christian homeschooling family who are passionate about their educational choices for their children just like you and I.  They desire to provide resources to homeschooling families that honor God and aid in furthering the students education in a valuable and meaningful way.

HEV brings educational videos to you and your children about a variety of subjects such as chess, crocheting, math, science, art, world geography, and so much more.  There are videos from homeschooling families sharing their experiences with other parents to help encourage them on their own journey, as well as videos from homeschooling students themselves.  Interested in book but not sure if it's a good fit for your family?  HEV has a book review section which includes thoughtful and enthusiastic reviews to help you make your decision! Coming soon, there will be a debate forum which allows intelligent discussions between peers about relevant topics and an area where your students can receive constructive critiques of their own writing!

Sounds great, right?  That's because it is!  The best part of it all is that it is a family friendly site.  No inappropriate content that can accidentally be clicked on by innocent fingers.  The Orgills strive to set up their entire site in a manner that pleases the Lord!

Now, my children are still relatively young so we couldn't really get a true taste of many of the courses, but my four year old son enjoyed the videos about airplanes and how they work and my oldest daughter liked the video about how to start a nature journal.  I can see us using this site for a variety of topics as they get older and look forward to seeing the ones yet to come!  I sat down and watched ALL of the videos on how to crochet and am ready to go out and purchase some yarn to give it a shot!  This site can be used by the whole family!

The videos all have a very friendly, comfortable atmosphere and are not dry and boring. They are creating BY homeschooling families FOR homeschooling families. It's like your friend down the street came over to show you how to play a few chords on his guitar or show you how to play chess. They are brief but informative, providing introductions and project instructions.

It is a new site that is still working on getting it's feet off the ground, so there are a limited amount of videos available at this time(still over 300!), but there are plans to greatly expand the library of topics.
